We've had an incredibly exciting year to date with tremendous volumes of quality work having been dedicated to course development. We have so much new content now available and yet more on its way. Our team are proud to share with you two new course announcements below.
We also have an update on our annual scholarship scheme, which will be opening for applications again soon, plus an exciting opportunity to join the scholarship panel.
Before you scroll down to read our features, we'd like to share a brief insight into our suicide prevention training roll out. Offerings of our QC18 Suicide Prevention Skills: Core (SPS:) workshop are at an all-time high! A total of 64 events have been scheduled so far in Semester 2 alone. This exceeds our total number of deliveries* for the full 2024 training year (*combined total for QC18 SPS:C and the previous Suicide Risk Assessment course). This has been made possible with the assistance our many accredited training partners who support the roll-out in their local HHS services. It is rewarding to see the far reaches of this training and how well it is received by participants. We hope to see many ongoing and improved outcomes in this space.

Shatter Stigma to Support Workforce Wellbeing - New eLearning
Funded through Better Care Together, our Lived Experience Training Team were tasked with developing and delivering a state-wide stigma reduction program to support the mental health and wellbeing of the workforce. The new eLearning product, QC62 Shatter Stigma to Support Workforce Wellbeing is set to launch in October!
Designed for Queensland Health staff across all disciplines and levels, with an emphasis on leadership. The course aims to increase staff awareness of their role in reducing stigma by fostering psychological safety and encouraging inclusion, demonstrating our continued commitment to creating psychologically safe and inclusive work environments.
The course explores how mental health stigma impacts the workplace at the individual, team, and organisational level, providing practical tools and strategies to foster a mentally healthy, stigma-free environment, promoting an organisational culture of inclusivity.
A key feature of the project is the inclusion of insights from members of our workforce and those with lived experience, underscoring the importance of open conversations about mental health. The program also features a special message from Queensland’s Mental Health Ambassador, Hayley Lewis.
We are excited to launch this program during Mental Health Week and Workplace Health and Safety Month in October.
Stay tuned for more announcements.

Platform upgrade
Behind the scenes our team continue to work toward an upgrade of our LMS platform. Technological advancements these days occur at such an astounding rate, that our current system which was launched in 2017 can now be considered almost prehistoric!
To help us maintain your records, please:
- maintain currency; regularly check your profile and update details to reflect any changes - this includes your contact number, team, workplace, line manager etc
- don't create duplicates - attempting to create a second profile when you can't remember your login details or have changed workplace only creates complications and risks loss of your valuable learner history.
Important: A change of name or email address in your learner profile requires support from our admins. Contact us for assistance or for a profile check where necessary.

Safety warning - please don't drive and learn
Our team have observed an increasing trend with some learners attempting to join their online classroom workshop from a mobile phone while in, or operating a vehicle. This is a dangerous practice. In Queensland, using a device while driving carries strict penalties.
Unlike podcasts or webinars, our workshops are interactive learning, with an expectation that you take part in activities, including discussions using the chat and audiovisual functions, and join breakout rooms. Attempting to participate in a training event while driving is not only dangerous, taking your attention away from the road, it can also impact on your learning and the experience of others.
If travel will impact on your ability to attend, please rebook to a more suitable time.
If you are running late, call us to notify. Then wait until you are in a safe location and not driving before joining.
Our online classroom information sheet, provided to every enrolled learner, outlines the preferred engagement methods and settings, that is on a computer/laptop in a quiet space is best.
People joining whilst driving will be removed from the workshop. Your safety and the safety of others on the road must always come first.
